Blueair helps New Yorkers banish bad air days

New York, March 10, 2016 – Stepping up to help New Yorkers banish the indoor air contaminants that spark red eyes, runny noses and dry, irritated throats, Blueair this weekend launches its unique ‘home air defense system’ in the Big Apple.

Comprising the IoT enabled Sense+ air purifier, Aware air monitoring sensor and Blueair Friend app, the unique indoor air pollution battling system will be centerpiece of two flagship shop-in-shop ‘Breathe Smarter’ concepts opening Friday and Saturday in the premier NYC East Side and West Side Gracious Home stores for interior designers and do-it-yourselfers.

At the intersection of design, health and technology, the cool-looking Aware air quality monitor from Sweden’s Blueair is designed to rapidly detect hundreds of different types of airborne particles, including everything from PM2.5 to VOC’s, such as formaldehyde and benzene in home and other environments.

The semi-conical device, just six inches high, shows indoor air quality in six levels visualized by the color on an LED bar, with deep blue indicating excellent air quality and dark orange revealing highly polluted air. To help eliminate allergy triggers, the Blueair Aware also monitors room humidity and temperature.

To help consumers create a safer indoor havens, the WiFi enabled Aware air sensor works in tandem with the contemporary Blueair’s Sense+ air purifier with Hepa air filter and Blueair Friend app, which can be downloaded for free from the web for use on iOS or Android smartphones or tablets. The air quality information harvested by the Blueair Aware air quality monitor can be read on the Blueair Friend app, which allows users to either manually adjust the airflow speed of a connected air purifier or permit automatic adjustment.

“No matter how bad their outdoor or indoor air pollution, New Yorkers can now rely in the Blueair Aware to create an indoor air defense system and avoid those ‘bad air days’ that can leave them feeling under the weather,” said Herman Pihlträd, President of Chicago-based Blueair Inc.

New Yorkers interested in seeing the Blueair Aware in action are invited to attend free public launch events for the Blueair ‘Breathe Smarter’ Gracious Home in-store clean air portals on Friday, March 11, at the Gracious Home NYC East Side store, 1220 Third Avenue, with champagne being served from 4PM – 7PM, and Saturday, March 12, at the Gracious Home NYC West Side store at 1992 Broadway, with an afternoon, Swedish-inspired ‘Fika’ (coffee and cakes) open between 1PM to 4PM.
